Today, we wrap up this years activities for 'Fun Fest' and thankfully we've had great golfing weather and appears that we will have the same today. My crew and I have enjoyed preparing the course for this tournament and hope everyone has had a good time. I have heard nothing but positive comments on the course and conditions which is a rewarding feeling. Thanks go out to the entire crew and their hard work and dedication.
Above is a picture I took Friday evening on #18 Green. It was a great 'shootout' for everyone involved and the other non-participating members looked on and voiced support through the entire thing. Fun times had by all!
I created this blog to give the membership an insight to the Field Club maintenance department. We are a 'behind the scenes' operation, so this is intended to fill that void and inform you on what progress is being made on a daily to weekly basis.

The Rain Continues.....
This morning we were hit with another pop up cell which brought 1.25" of rain in a 2.5 hour window. As you can see from the images above, there is an abundance of standing water on/around the greens and fairways, but crew is working hard to get it cleared away so we can get open as soon as possible. Normal course maintenance is also getting completed (mow greens, course setup, bunkers, etc.) this morning as well. If the weather holds true today, we should have clearing skies this afternoon allowing the course to dry down by the end of the day.

Summer Tree Trimming
Due to the tree incident we had in the parking lot, it heightened the concern for the safety on the golf course involving dead wood from trees. Thanks to the quick support from the Board, Green & Grounds Committee and Chris Bancroft (G.M), immediate action was taken and this project was completed within 10 days from the vote. In total, 11 trees were cleaned up (mainly Cottonwood's) and it creates an instant visual impact for the golfers. Above, you can see the images of before, during, and after trimming was complete. Also, thanks go out to Dref's Tree Service for their quick response time as they handled all the tree pruning.

New Sand/Seed Holder
Special thanks go out to Bill G. for his masterful work on the new sand/seed holder which will be placed at the Pavilion at weeks end. This holds 24 bottles and also has a shelf on the bottom for the empty bottles to be placed. This project fulfills the request of several members who have been asking for more bottles before you finish the front 9. Thanks again Bill and great work!

Course Update
The course is really shaping up as we have been staying on top of the rough and making sure the details are dialed in (edge sprinklers, bunkers, etc.). It took a little longer than a 'normal' Sprng, but we're ready for the summer heat to hit. I hope everyone has enjoyed the course so far and know we will continue to improve daily.

Storm Damage
Last night brought the city of Omaha severe storms and flash flooding. At FCO, we ended up with 2.7" of rain and some tree damage however we had no major tree loss. There are some large limbs down which is what the crew is cleaning up right now. With the way the storm was tracking, things could have been much worse. Things will be cleaned up and back to normal by mid week. Thanks for you patience.

#13 Tee Complex
Above are Before, During and After shots of #13 Tee Complex. This area suffered severe winter damage, so we took this opportunity to not only re-sod the entire tee, but to re-surface the complex as well. Over the years tees tend to lose their grade and become uneven causing the golfer to have an awkward stance while teeing off. To correct the problem, we stripped the sod and used a box scraper to even out the area. Once we got rough grade, we used our bunker rake to final grade/smooth out the area before laying the sod. Temporary tees have been set in front of the tee box and our hope is to have it opened up in the next two weeks.
Note: #17 Tee was also completed and temporary markers are also in front of that complex.
